I just installed TIVO Desktop BETA 2.4 and after it seemed to install I got that error

My TIVO server icon has an X through it and I can't open the software. I google search the error message and haven't found it yet.

Anyone have any luck installing it, anyone else get this error and have a fix?

Using WINDOWS XP and my TIVO is uses a lan cable not wireless.

Does your login account have local administrative rights? The inability to create the registry key is usually caused by a rights issue (speaking generally, not about TiVoDesktop).

ANY discussion regarding Beta software MUST be done within the Beta community; not the Tivo Community. You should have been given specific instructions when you signed-up to be a Beta tester on what to do in the event of such a problem.

Tivo made a Tivo Desktop 2.4 Pre-release publically available. I presume this is what the OP is refering to.

Right click on the Start button. Is there an option for "Open all Users?" If not then you do not have administrator rights and as such can not install TiVo Desktop or many other software programs.

Did you try restarting. Pretty much every version of TiVo Desktop has failed to start the beacon for me after install until I start the service manually or restart my PC.
