View Full Version : Is "Save to VCR (ie DVD) real time?

If you save to DVD, do you have to let it run real time like VCRs, or does it "flash" the data over to the DVR all at once?
If it's real time, can it be done in background while going to live TV at the same time?
I have a Series2 TiVo.

Yes, it runs in real time.
No, what you are watching is what it is recording.

It's real time, and you can't watch something else while it's happening unless you have bypassed the Tivo somehow (with a splitter directly to your TV, for example).
