Stuck on "Installing a service update..

Series 2 stuck on "Installing a service update. This will take a few minutes."
I have let it go for hours and tried to unplug it mutiple times. Any ideas?

First you should call TiVo support and ask for help. If no success, you might want to consider installing a fresh copy of the TiVo software. You can use InstantCake (http://www.ptvupgrade.com/products/instantcake/). If still no luck, you might need to replace the hard drive.

A little bit more info needed.
Model of TiVo?
Are there any upgrades/or mods?
Connecting through network of phone?

Disconnect the network device if you have one.

It could be a problem with overheating or the hard drive.
