What does Tivo do to the network adapter to where it can only be used with a Tivo? Is there currently an app that will undo whatever is done?

There is something that will put a DWL-122 back to stock. I don't know about other brands or models. I saw a posting on it a year or so ago, if I can find the reference I will post it. But at least it is possible if that is the one you are talking about.

The re-flasher download is called dwl-122_recover.zip. I do not remember where I got it, but hopefully that will be enough to locate it on the web. I never actually used it, so I can't vouch for whether it actually works or not, but I expect it should.

I'm not sure about the .zip file, but I can tell you that it is possible to recover a DWL-122 after it's been mangled by a TiVo. I did it.
