Serial Cable HELP!!!

Ok I know that must have been asked a thousand time. But I got a serial cable from ebay. It has the stereo plug on one end and a DB9 Male on the other end. I picked up an gender changer at Radio Shack. But Now I am lost on what I should do I tried to follow the PPP connection and that didn't work.

what do I need to do to get the Bash?

Thanks for the info :)

But I stiil cannot get the bash prompt. I know that my dtivo is ok because i can telnet into it. But using the serial nothing happens in hyperterm.

Hopefully someone can help me get pass this connection problem. I followed those directions to the letter. :D

You might need a null modem as well.
