From what I have read, the first will be a repeat of last week's episode and the second will be new.

My Tivo Shows the 9PM episode as being a rerun of this week.

My MythTV guide data didn't show the episode on at 9PM as of yesterday, but I just refreshed it and it's there now, so it obviously showed up overnight. My guess about it would be the following:

I heard that this week's episode had the lowest ratings for the show so far, yet a lot of people have been saying that this was one of the strongest episodes in a LONG time. Many people have probably written off the show, but strong word of mouth could change their mind. They probably scheduled this rerun to give them a chance to reevaluate the show, and then follow that right into the new episode.

I think Lost is going to do a lot of repeats before the show, keep people watching that may miss one and I'm sure a lost repeat gets higher ratings than other stuff

For the next few weeks, they are going to show the previous week's episode first, followed by the new episode at the regular time.

That's funny, it was #18 in the Nielsen's last week which was one of its highest ratings this season to date.

That's true but the overall viewers was down from a high of 20 million (season 1?)to I believe around 14 or 15 million a few weeks ago to just over 12 million for last weeks episode. Being that the producers plan to end the show at 5 seasons (I think I heard that somewhere), I hope it makes it that long. I read in my local paper the other day that some Hollywood people were saying it may not make it past 4 seasons because of the confusing plots and lack of answers, and ABC's bungling of the scheduling.

Which is not unusual at all considering it changed time slots. I'll agree with you that the whole story arc with the tailies was awful and their decision to focus the first half of the season on Sawyer, Jack and Kate was another disaster. However, I still have high hopes for the show.
