 I have Pioneer DVR-810H series 2 Tivo/DVD recorder. It has previously recorded 2 hrs of TV on DVD-R 8x/4.7gb/120 min DVD. A while back, it would burn to same DVD, but only 1 hr content. Now it won't burn to that at all, or to a 16x/4.7gb/120 min DVD. Could someone explain what the problem is, and what I should do to resolve it? Thanks.

If you search the DVD specific forum a bit, you can find lots of posts about what media works best. Faster media (16x) almost never works. You need to use the media that matches the drive specs. For RW, anything over 2x isn't likely to work. I think 4x is best for DVD-R, if I recall correctly. Memorex is usually good.

Ok re the faster media not working. Thanks. Any thoughts why the 4x worked for a while and now won't?

They may be using higher grade media in the lower grade packaging. You should try a different brand. The DVD writers do sometimes go bad, so you could have an issue there, but I'd certainly play around with some different media before deciding the drive was an issue.
