I have a RCA DVR39 dTiVo that i got from a buddy of mine. I upgraded the drive with instant cake and ptvnet and applied the superpatch. It seems to me like everything is working fine except for the time it takes for the unit to respond to any command given by a remote. Not just bringing up the now playing list or the guide, but simple ff commands too.

I also have a sony sat-t60 and it cruises! I just want my series 2 to respond at least somewhere close to the speed of my series 1. I have read that the 6.2 software which is the version on my s2 receiver is pretty quick. So I dont believe it is just the difference between an s1 and an s2. Someone please help.

Thanks.

What version of software is on it? Also if it is trying to index the guide info it may slow things down. If that is the case give it 48 hours.

I am running 6.2 straight off the instant cake disk. It has been up and running for a few months so I dont think it is the guide. It is not my primary tivo so I have not really worried about it but everytime I use it, lilke I did the other day, I get frusterated.

2 things, try restarting the tivo then if that doesn't work go to the zipper wiki troubleshooting page entry about slow NPL.

See my sig for links

I feel foolish. Thank you for your advice but I have found out what the problem was. It had nothing to do with the Tivo or Software and everything to do with the Harmony 880 remote I use. Apparently the DVR39 default set up in the remote gives a longer than necessary delay between commands. All I needed to do was decrease that delay to match what my sat-t60 was set to and the rest is history!

thanks again for the help
