This is an ongoing saga, and any help is appreciated. I have a Series 2 TiVo and a wireless connection through a Linksys wireless G router. Sometime last November I lost the connection between TiVo and my PC running TiVo Desktop 2.3a. I tried every combination of rebooting the PC, router, modem and TiVo unit you could think of and I could not get it back.
TiVo Desktop can see the TiVo fine, and I can use functions like weather and Yahoo Pictures. But the little icon that once showed the files stored on my PC in the Now Playing list is gone. Frustrated, I walked away from it for a while, then come back and try again, usually with no luck. But yesterday was different.
I read a thread here that suggested uninstalling TD 2.3a, installing 2.2, then reinstalling 2.3a. I tried everything else, so I figured why not. I did as suggested and there was no immediate fix. I left the house and came back a couple hours later turned on TiVo and lo-and-behold there was the PC. But it was running on 2.2.
Now TD had to be changed to redirect to my Maxtor external hard drive where my movies are stored, and the thread said to uninstall and the reinstall 2.3. So I did -- I uninstalled 2.2, then reinstalled 2.3a and pointed the save files folder at the Maxtor. Now it's missing again. I'm hating life. Why would this be happening?
