Greetings... brand new to Tivo, and having problems with the Desktop application in XP. After installation of version 2.3a, I get the "Required Components are Missing" error message whenever I try to run the program. I've done some searching around here and found this discussed (I would post some relevant links, but I am not allowed to yet!) but no real answers. I've tried uninstalling (not just disabling) my anti-virus package, disabling the firewall, everything I can think of, but no luck.

Eventually, I uninstalled 2.3a and installed 2.2, which works just fine.

So, I have two questions... 1) is there any known work-around for this problem other than going back to 2.2, and 2) is there any other alternative for getting Tivo content onto an Ipod? I ask that, since I am going to assume that since 2.3 doesn't work for me, the 2.3 Plus upgrade won't do me any good either, and I'm not going to gamble $25 to find out!

Any thoughts of advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would uninstall and the manually delete C:\Program Files\TiVo\Desktop folder. Then try 2.3a again.

Thanks for the reply... I already tried that more than once, though. In my final attempt, I even dug through the registry and deleted everything Tivo-related I could find, to no avail.

If you have an Intel Viiv technology-based PC you need to download and use the TiVo Desktop version (http://www.tivo.com/4.9.4.1-2_win.asp) for that processor/chip set.
