PC - Tivo

OK So I got my Series 2 and installed the desktop. Finally figured out how to get everything working.

A couple of items.
1) Is there ANY way to increase the xfer rate BACK to Tivo for Mpg playback?
2) Will I need to join vob files for a DVD that was copied to my PC?

1) Depends on where you want to increase from, I suppose. :) I don't really know though, but I get better than real-time speed, so I don't need faster.

2) Yes. I use VOB2MPG (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VOB2MPG) to do this, but there are probably other ways too. I THINK you can just rename a ripped VOB file to *.mpg too, but I'm not sure about this (I did something with it a long time ago).
