Transfer to PC from Tivo now not working

I am having a problem uploading to my Tivo now, worked before. This is my own video not a Tivo recorded video.
Is it related to the software glitch in Tivo software version 8.1?

Try rebooting your TiVo. If that doesn't work then try another transfer program such as TiVo.net....

the link you provided talks about playing any video FROM the computer to the Tivo. Will it also work for transferring FROM the Tivo to the computer?

TiVo.Net is only for sending videos back to your TiVo. You'd still need to use TiVo Desktop, or the http interface, or Galleon, etc. to download recordings to your PC.

I have re-booted the tivo and restarted the PC many times. I get the same result. I have tried it from two different PC and two different Tivos.
I have not tried tivo.net. I have tried other tivo desktop tools.
No luck.

What exactly does it do when you try to upload something? Do the PCs just not show up? DO the transfers fail? Do the videos refuse to play? Something else?

I am having the same issue; on a laptop that always saw tivos on my network, it no longer sees them, the same is true of other computers on the network-reboots aren't working either.

Just to clarify. I have the Toshiba SD-H400 Tivo/DVD player. It has the basic (free) service. Using a USB wireless adapter, it will connect to my wireless network but it does not appear on my PC (ie. network places) I have a feeling that I will need to use some "client" software on my PC to read or d/l from the Tivo. Since I am on the free service, I don't think I can use the Tivo2go or Tivo desktop.

TiVo Basic service does not support any of the advance networking features. To use TiVoToGo, in either direction, you have to upgrade to the full TiVo Plus service.
