I have a pair of large front speakers that have four drivers plus a tweeter. The four main drivers are 6.5" each, and are aligned vertically in the cabinet. They have large magnets, and none them use shielded magnets. I am rearranging things, and the new setup requires the S3 to be about 6 inches away from the bottom of the speakers with nothing in between them. In other words, the bottom driver's magnet would be about 6 inches from the S3, and as I mentioned, there are three other drivers above the bottom one.

My questions:

What do you think is a safe distance away from the speaker, for the S3, to avoid damage/interference to the S3?

Would it be safer to put the power supply or the hard drive side, of the S3, closest to the speaker?

Thanks :)

According to a PC World article (http://www.pcworld.com/article/116572-1/article.html),), unshielded speaker magnets aren't a problem for hard drives. I'd worry about vibrations from the speakers though.

I use a pair of circa 1985 Celestion speakers as my front speakers. One of them stands within a couple of inches of my S3 and has caused no problems whatever. As these speakers were made long before anybody worried much about using speakers in video applications, I suspect that S3s are likely immune to magnetic interference from speakers.
