OMG! Did you see the door scenes? And was that "Just my Justice" with a ticket?
Remember her from episode 1 trying to sing Prince's "Kiss" and couldn't remember the words. All the judges said no, yet there she is with a ticket. And yes, I did review the first show and the serial number was the same as was the outfit.

I liked the dude who was polite and graceful, but asked if he could talk trash on his exit to save rep.
Funny.
Also like his support and love for his cousin.
As far as hawties, a bit low. I liked the country gal with "fashion". My wife said, "yeah, she's got country fashion".
Like we didn't know, but Simon really controls these first rounds. If Paula said "let's bring her back in, I liked her" the two men wouldn't change their minds. Seems that when Simon votes first, the others agree.
Ok, train wrecks are over, right? I'm ready to see who studies their lines and who parties away their chances of fortune and fame.

The scary guy with the monotone voice (the one that should've been singing from a dark bedroom) was actually quite good. He needs to work a bit, but he has a very good voice.

She sure did. I think her name was Haley...between her and the "fashion country girl" Bailey they were two of the hottest so far. Haley & Bailey!

The cousins- the first sang Amazing Grace badly?
I just know he came along to give support to his cousin who could sing, but looked so shy and tentative. Bless the first guy for being willing to make a fool of himself on television just so his cousin would have the nerve to audition. That's a real friend.

I know... I noticed that too... That was cool. You could tell that the second cousin was this close to being frozen in fear/shyness. He may very well not have had the nerve to go there if not for Amazing Grace going with him. When they asked him who was better, he instantly said his cousin. You could tell by the look on his face that he was just there for support.
That was cool... really cool. It's always great to see when people have someone to have their back like that.
And I got a real kick out of how he 'represented' as he left the room. That was pretty funny.

The local Fox news here reported that the cousin received a call from American Idol telling him they weren't going to let him come to Hollywood. He wasn't told why, but revealed that he did have an arrest in his past for marijuana possession. He said he revealed this at the initial audition, so that may or may not be why he's not going.
And the first cousin made us think of Patrick from SpongeBob.

two comments on this:
1. I could not stop laughing at her facial expressions. She made a square shape with her lips that was very odd... which, like paula said (I can't believe i'm actually agreeing with paula  takes away from her voice. And then when they bring her back, and she is trying so hard not to do it... I was cracking up even more.
2. So right about simon and his control. it's funny when randy and paula change their opinions based on simon's. there was one time in a previous ep where randy did his shake head, deep breath like he didn't like it... then he goes to simon, who liked it, and then randy says, yeah i liked it... when you could tell he was going to say he didn't like it.
it doesn't always happen, but it happens.
I LOVED the last guy (the last good guy), the black dude with the reuben vibe. He makes the final 12. write it down.

That girl, Alysha, or whatever her name was, had a nice voice and was cute, which made her deserving to move on.
I think Randy and Paula sometimes try to guess what Simon will say and then go along with that. In this case, I think they both assumed that Simon would say no based on the strange expressions. They forgot the good voice/cute factor, which overrides the rest for Simon.
I liked Haley and Bailey a lot. Probably liked Haley a little more, but Bailey is kind of a Hillary Duff clone who could get some sort of gig somewhere in entertainment.

I don't think Simon is in charge. At least, not Simon Cowell. I'm convinved the thing with bringing "funny face" girl back was 100% staged/setup by the producers in advance. Told Paula and Randy to say no and to have Simon say he would ahve said yes. Then have Simon convince them they need to bring her back in. She comes back in. They all say yes. A total setup.

When they were telling the girl she made weird faces and couldn't go on, I was wondering if they'd ever seen Jessica Simpson sing. The facial affectations and contortions that one inflicts on those watching haven't hurt her career much.

Pretty sure the deal is that the one who can sing and was invited to Hollywood was un-invited due to some issues with his criminal record.
Switching gears, what is the deal with the way Randy says "Good lookin' out?" He says it the way someone would say "take it easy" or "thanks for stopping by."
I've always known that to mean "thanks for watching my back." As in you're looking out for someone, and they're telling you "good job." I've never heard it used the way Randy is using it.

Another time I cracked up:
the one chick who slurred all her words, who sang for the mayor of Houston... first off, she sings funny... it's amazing how many ways bad singers manifest... that's why it never gets old for me..
anyhoo... when simon is about to rail on her..."let me ask you something, was that serious?" and then she starts crying... and you could see simon just get all awkward, like damn, it's not funny anymore, i have to stop... and he wants to crack more jokes, but he starts feeling bad for her...
I've been in that situation where you are making a joke, and it turned all serious and the person didn't take it as a joke, and you feel all awkward...
that cracked me up.

Our local affiliate also ran the story about that guy's marijuana possesion incident costing him the trip to Hollywood. But they also mentioned 'Funny Face Girl'.. she got called back for a second chance and was given the Golden Ticket. But it was all for nothing.. they took back the offer since she has a conviction in her past as well. Something to do about putting sugar in her ex-boyfriend's gastank.

That was such an odd claim to fame. For all we know, she was a performer at a rubber-chicken lunch banquet for the Sisters of the Little Brain Charity, and the mayor happened to attend. Such a reach to brag "I sang for a mayor"

I wonder if there will be any explanation at all once they get to Hollywood. Both of those contestants were pretty likeable and got a LOT of airtime. I was ready to root for the cousin guy, for sure. Now we won't see either in Hollywood and I doubt the viewers will get any explanation.

Rumor here at work is that Ebony (tall good looking Black singer who was part of the three girls who sang last night) has some issues in her past as well. Something about some work she did for the Chicago Blitz (old football league) dancing in her underware. Or something like that ;)

"American Idol" should give these ex-cons another shot. I assume they paid their debt to society. That is supposed to be the American way after all.
This is the same on job applications. They always ask if you ever been convicted of a felony. They also state that they would never hold that against the job applicant but they always do.

Since it's America, the producers of the show (those British guys), have the right to decide who makes it and who does it.
I do hope we get to see more of Ebony. She was good - in so many ways.

Nice thought in theory - in pratice it just isn't that way. And I do believe companies have every right not to hire convicted felons if they don't want to. Banks, for instance, are not allowed to hire people with certain felony convictions - or face the possibility of 7 figure fines.
There is a pretty good sized pot of gold at the end of the American Idol rainbow, and I think the producers are well within their rights to weed people out that may wind up harming the product in the long run.
