I took my AV setup apart to remove paneling, replace drywall, run speaker wires(properly), etc. I put my plasma is in the basement and I took my Series 3 and put it in the bedroom. It was set at 720P for the plasma and my 32" tube cannot display it. I have it hooked up with component and I think the TV can only do 480P. I get some picture, but it is repeated, small and jumpy.

Is the a way to set the Series 3 to go to 480i or 480P without being able to read the on screen menus?

There's a small button in the center of the S3 along the bottom of the front. Gently press it and you can cycle through the resolutions. The S3 will display the resolution on the front.

There's a black (so it's hard to see) format button on the S3 front panel, towards the bottom, about 2/3 of the way over from the left. Pushing that will cycle through the S3 output formats.

I had that problem with my used unit, former owner had it set at 720 and the 480 1080 display would give me nada. So I hooked it up with an SVideo cable and got a pic I could see to make setting changes. No need to disconnect the components. Just put in the Svideo cable and switch inputs on the TV.

The button on the front an is labeled "Format" Everytime you press it the resolution changes. Just look on the front, on the bottom horizontal black piece, just to the right of center. You can't miss it.
