Tivo vs. Retail

:confused: I haven't heard much from people who have bought their unit directly from Tivo. It would seem less painful since you don't have to mess with the rebate and the price is discounted up front. What am I missing here??

Not dealing with Rebates = big plus for direct order

Downside is, TiVo's order management kinda blows. Might take a while to receive your box. If you want it FAST get it somewhere else.

I have purchased all my Tivos from Tivo. There are no rebates to mess around with.

Also, Shipping was fast!. It took 5 Days from Order until it arrived via UPS Ground.

And, it was Pre-activated and ready to go, just had to plug it in, and within 30 minutes was enjoying Tivo.

The upside to B&M retail is that if you get a faulty Tivo the return and exchange process is pretty much a cut and dry simple task vs Getting an exchange from Tivo.com which could take several weeks or even longer and you'll be kept in the dark not knowing the status of anything for sure until you actually receive the replacement.
