What are peoples feelings on this?

I now own 4 Tivo's.

I started with an original 40GB black S2 with Lifetime, and a 'new' 40GB silver S2 with MSD. Now I own a DRT-800 with Lifetime, and an S3.

I see myself using the S3, and probably at most 2 of the other 3.

I like the new silver S2 since it's grandfathered into $6.95 MSD.
I like the old black S2 since I'd like to finally (since it won't be in use as much) be able to play with hacking it.
I like the DRT-800 since it has the DVD-R.

Of course the S3 will stay, with a lifetime, but which lifetime?

I'm leaning towards leaving lifetime on the DRT-800, and taking it from the black S2, and leaving the silver S2 on MSD.

Decisions Decisions.

What would you do?

I was faced with a very similiar choice. I chose to keep the old black S2 over the newer S2 because it does MRV transfers a lot fast than my newer silver unit. The newer S2 is now retired and up for sale. I also had one other reason for keeping the older S2, it has a upgraded 160 meg hard drive it in.

I thought that 1/31/07 was the last date that you could do a lifetime transfer?

It was extended to 3/2/07 but purchase was required by 1/31/07.

I clicked on that link, and right on the page it says: "Sorry, this offer has expired" I don't see any reference to the new 3/2/07 date.

It's not a new date; it's the same dates as it has been the past month (1/31 for purchase, 3/2 for transfer). Look at point 1 in the small print.
