View Full Version : Live Button brings up guide

I found a trigger that changes the function of the live button from switching tuners to bringing up the guide.

I used the button to switch tuners. On the second tuner was a program I decided to record by pressing the record button. It took about 30 seconds for it actually complete the function. I assume because it had to crop off the earlier 21 minutes part of the buffer that was not relevant to the recording requested. It was about 9 minutes into the program when I made the request.

Once it was recording, I once again pressed the live button fully expecting to return to the other tuner. It instead went to the guide. Several more attempts resulted in the same behavior.

I know that I can restart the tivo to get this setting back. Just reporting what I found.

If anyone knows a link to report issues directly to TiVo, I would appreciate your posting it and I will report there as well.

Have you switched remote codes? Are you using the Glo Remote that came with the S3? Or a Harmony?

Some TiVos actually INTENTIONALLY used the Live/Guide button combo to improve the layout and leave place for DVD playback functionality (Humax DRTs, Pioneers, Toshibas). Perhaps you've stumbled onto an interesting remnant of that code, or a code fork issue? :)

Does entering the (TiVo Central) menu, and returning to liveTV via the LiveTv button (then also try the Guide button) make the world just right again?

Ashu: I am using a harmony remote and going into tivo central and exiting using the live button did make things right again. Thank you.

Hiker: Thanks for the link. I did search for "live tv" and did not find that, must have been blind.

Bierboy: read reply to Hiker

Just by looking at the number of views on this thread indicates the fact that this issue has been hammered to death in this forum. No one is bothering to read this thread because they've already seen this issue posted several times....
