I have searched Forum and other guides but need a quick answer. I am in the progress of creating a new disk with 'HOOCH!' the simple question is when I swop the drive in my Tivo for the new one will I have to do a full guided set up again or is the service provider info etc held on the motherboard. I know I will have to set up all season passes etc again.
Thanks.
I know I could just do it and find out but I need to know how long Tivo will be out of action before broaching the topic later with SHMBO.

You'll need to set everything up again.
TTBOMK the only unique thing stored in firmware in the Tivo itself is the code used to identify it for programme guide data (tenner a month / lifetime subs) info.

Yes, you will need to redo Guided Setup, so allow a 'window' of at least 4 hours for indexing etc..

The actual process of swapping the drive and running GS though should only take half an hour, so as long as the TiVo isn't set to record loads of stuff in the small hours you could do it before going to bed then let it index overnight...;)

Apart from SP is there any other information I should make a note of now before pulling out the drive to make set up easier later?

You could always keep your current programs and season passes and thumbs data though following the instructions for doing so and download the MFS CD from
www.mfslive.org/cgen.php
This even gives you the specific command instruction you need to type and a choice as to whether or not to keep your current recordings.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I am now the proud owner of a fully functioning Tivo with 250g hard drive - all season passes and settings restored. The old recordings had all be watched so that wasnt an issue..
