Hi all,
I was using Hackman Edit to edit the dailymail config file and all was well, until I hit the "save" button
It seems it caused Tivo to reboot
Anyone care to hazard a guess why?? I always thought that Tivo was only susceptible to reboots if anything with the Tivo database open failed - I can't imagine why Hackman Edit would have the DB open.....
Needless to say, I WON'T be editing anything else any time soon

I don't trust Hackman for editing crucial Tivo config files like tivoweb.cfg and rc.sysinit.author I only use it to swap over from TivoWeb 1.9.4 on the rare occasions I need to use one of the two features TivoWebPlus 1.3.1 has that TivoWeb 1.9.4 does not. Those are Channel Preferences and the enhanced Info function that includes disk health.
It seems far simpler and safer to edit these congig file settings with the Joe editor, which although basic has never given me any trouble.

Agree totally. In fact I normally edit on my laptop (with Context - an editor that doesn't insist on adding those nasty CRLF thingies on the end of every line) and FTPing to Tivo
Snag is, none of that works when I am not at home (like now)
I guess I'll just have to wait until I get back
Ah well

PS One more post for Pete77, but TWO more for me :)
