"Oh, poor Superman, he should really do something about his flying problem."
"Mike, Mark, Matt!"
"Open bar for the guys, open casket for the ladies!"
"Look, he wet himself! Hey everyone!"
Awesome bit on TiVo as well.
Great episode.

Great episode. Loved the Super Bowl flashbacks, Ted's Device 5000 (forgot the name), and the split-scene montage when most of the gang learned the scores.
Total fun ... :)

Sorry to nit-pick but why didn't robin tell them in advance what was happening, why didn't ted just ask the bartender to bring the wings outside, why didn't barney call his bookie, and why does Lily, the teacher, get to bring something for show & tell??
Fun episode, though. The worst part about tivoing sporting events is overtime. I wish they'd have gone there... guess they are tivo noobs.

Their prayer to the Tivo god was pretty darn funny.

I didn't get premise of the joke. Praying that you TiVo records correctly is like praying that your furnace keeps your house warm, it's just not something you worry about.

I thought it was funny as well, but also found a few nits to pick. No way a bar owner would want his funeral to be during the Superbowl, unless maybe it was at the bar and in conjuction with one last superbowl bash or something, so right off the bat, I was taken out of it by the flaw in the overriding premise of the show.

You've been lucky. My Tivo has let me down on a few occasions, as has my furnace.

If they have a cable box and have to rely on IR blasters like I do you do need to pray sometimes.

Why is that an issue? For a big event or a big game I always record the next 2 shows also, then if they are not something I watch, I just delete them when done watching. It's a tool, not a panacea, learn to use your tools correctly.

TiVo isn't perfect, but usually does a great job.

Someone is being very nitpicky. And you said a few nits but only listed one. What are the other ones?

Enjoyable episode although some of the minor crits I'd agree with.

Was I the only one who took this episode as a message to the fans? Future Ted himself hits us over the hammer with "Just because you know the end of a story doesn't mean you can't enjoy watching it." I figured that had to have SOMETHING to do with all the "Well, we know it can't be Robin because of the stupid Future Ted stuff" that usually goes with any discussion of this show.
Don't get me wrong, I'm one of those people who wishes the show didn't have Future Ted. Maybe I'm just too sensitive to "metahumor" jokes after 3 seasons of Arrested Development. :D

You're not alone, I thought this as well.
LOVED the Tivo bit... yes, tivo should work no problems, but YOU NEVER KNOW. The prayer was great! :)

Tivo prayer was great. I guess you guys are not on directv? :( The enhanced guide data bug destroyed recording reliability for the past month or two.
Very funny episode, especially after the "columns' one which I found not funny at all.

Yea it should have been a prayer to the SA-8300HD. I've wanted to smash mine up in the alley a few times.

Them even thinking they could avoid finding out the winner, Especially Robin.
Then the way Robin did the little kid I can't hear you dance instead of simply getting up when the camera was on the sports guy.
As someone else mentioned, Lilly bringing Marshall to school.
Ted being able to see anything through the tiny pin hole.
Ted not being able to hear anything when the best hearing protectors you can buy only attenuate sound by about 32 dB. As someone else mentioned, why they did not make simpler arrangements.
But hey, who is keeping track. IT is still a great show. :D

Nice try, genius. If I have something else recording on other stations when OT would be on, it doesn't work, because either my other recordings have to be cancelled or I can't record the full overtime. Second, overtime messes up all the shows after it too, and I for one don't have a desire to go in and manually record extra time slots for subsequent shows after every sporting event I record. And even if I did, it's a lot of work and frustrating. I guess you don't use your tivo enough, or you would know these things.

She still would have to block it out. Monitors and such.

I don't get how this one is wrong? Teachers can't bring in anyone they want. Especially KINDERGARTEN?
Ted being able to see anything through the tiny pin hole.

You nitpick and you don't pay attention. It was not a pin hole. It was the size of a notebook hole.

32 db is pretty damned good. And he could hear some stuff. He could hear the guy at the bar muffled.
But hey, who is keeping track. IT is still a great show. :D
Geez. It's a sitcom. The biggest stretch was Barney running into Emmett Smith...

And no one mentioned the funniest line of the night.
When the 5 year old was extorting Marshall for 10 bucks then pushed it UP to 8!

I wanted to start this thread yesterday because from the previous I could see how some of us are the same way the day after a show comes on and we don't want to find out what happens because it's still on our tivo waiting for us. Sometimes it's hard to avoid spoilers.

Event must not be important enought for ya. I have 3 Tivo's and the HR20 so I can record whatever whenever.
WOOT!

But then you only get some shows in HD. Regardless of whether there are work arounds, overtime is still a big issue and causes more headaches than any other thing the networks do as far as I can figure.

I still think the daughter on the sofa at the beginning of each episode looks exactly like Robin...I don't care what future Ted said...
