My only question is I still don't understand on the sport packages like center ice. If I pay for in advance why does it need 2-way comm for it?? How is it differant then say HBO. I'm not interacting with the box like PPV pulling menus and ordering movies. Also if I order a movie online why cant they pipe it to my card #??
Who is getting these packages over their cable cards? And how??
I've spoken to the call center and they say no way it's 2way

did you ask to speak with a supervisor? Apparently there is some mis-communication somewhere.
My only question is I still don't understand on the sport packages like center ice. I've been doing some research and I'm finding TimeWarner (http://www.oceanic.com/OceanicWebApps/Television/DigitalServices/CableCard.html) and Cox (http://www.cox.com/hr/cable/cablecard-compare.asp) say no sports packages. They are treating it (incorrectly) as if it needs to be a two way device. Comcast (http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Computer_SetupVista18828) Does allow it.

The link that you gave from Cox says about ordering PPV with your REMOTE control. Of course you can't do that with a cablecard...
The link that you gave from Cox says about ordering PPV with your REMOTE control. Of course you can't do that with a cablecard...But apparently they are classifying In-demand as interactive. I've seen several posts stating they will not allow sports packages with cableCARDS. Here's a better link. Mind you, I don't think it is correct, it is a premium channel like HBO, I'm just reporting my findings.
NO Sports on COX with cableCARDS (http://www.cox.com/sandiego/digitalcable/cablecard.asp)
Pay-Per-View
Purchase Pay-Per-View movies and sports events using your remote control. NO1
If I buy a Digital Cable Ready TV, will I continue to enjoy all the features that I currently have through my Cox receiver?
Unfortunately, the current technology cannot support two-way interactivity so you will not have access to the Interactive Program Guide, On Demand Movies, Events, Sports and FreeZone, or PPV movies and events. Cox is currently exploring a two-way technology with the Consumer Electronics industry but there is no solution in place yet.
What if I want two-way interactive services?
If you would like to receive two-way services, such as the Cox Interactive Program Guide, Parental Controls, On Demand, PPV, Sports Packages or other special program events, you must use a digital receiver provided by Cox Communications.
