Swap Hard Drive Question

previous posts to my problem also )......just curious if i can take out my old svr 2000 hard drive and hook it to my svr 3000 to see if the 3000 is not working other than the h/d.... would it get to start up screen correctly using my working svr 2000 h/d , as i would like to know if it is the hard drive failing in the svr 3000.....or another problem internally..i have tried all the other things like pause 57 etc....just stuck at welcome powering up gray screen and no further ..

You cannot take a drive from one box and put it into another unless it is the same model prefix.

You should be able to test the HD in a PC if you have one by downloading the appropriate diag software from the HD manufacturer's website.
