A few more years and the little one will just roll her eyes and say move away from the computer mom before you crash the thing, and do it for me... Until then I get to look like an idiot to the general public. Here goes...

Can someone put in "computer illiterate talk" what hardware/software is required to use, in the minimum, the photos feature please?
I have a brand new computer with Windows Vista, a TIVO series 2 unit and a DSL internet connection.

What other features are avalible that I would be able to use?

I appreciate it!

You'll need:

a router (unless your DSL modem has a router built-in)
a network adapter (http://customersupport.tivo.com/LaunchContent.aspx?cid=56cc9bdc-b292-448e-a6c3-2e55fc03c89f&anchor=undefined&anchor=undefined&anchor=undefined) for your TiVo
the TiVo Desktop (http://www.tivo.com/4.9.4.1-2.asp) software

I thought I had read somewhere, though, that the current version of TiVo Desktop won't run on Vista (not sure).

Once your TiVo is on your home network you won't need it connected to a phone line to make its daily calls home. You'll also be able to share your music/photos on your PC through TiVo Desktop, download records from your Series2 via TiVoToGo, etc.
