The question I have is I currently have a series 2 with a 40 gig HD...I have modified this drive around two years ago but would now like to put it back to its orginal stack and yes I do have a backup CD that I made before I redone the new HD.

My other question is can I use a XP Pro computer to work my drive or do I still need a system 32 bit windows format to make it work right ??

Right now I have the disk InstantCake that I had bought before....or is there newer software for me to use to restore my orignal data back to my new 80 gig ??

Thanks for any help !!

I'm not up on copying images to hard drives, but one thing I've picked up is that you have to use Linux as an OS in the process.

If I understand right, you can NOT use Windows.

You are correct, you must use a CD boot disk like MSTOOLS and you must have an image, you can get more information in the upgrade part of this form. You can not boot to Windows to re-do any TiVo drive. Windows will think its un-partition drive and may try to partition it.
