Transfered (Desktop) shows "squished" during playback

After I transfer a show from my TiVo to my Computer via TiVo Desktop,
the playback of the show on the PC is "squished" into a vertical rectangle.

(Yes, it's just a big gray rectangle here, 'cause my pict software cannot capture the video image.)

Have reloaded software, and all the other obvious-desperate things.

try using a different video codec.

delete all but the codec you want to use and keep trying them until you get one that works for you.

Is your TiVo S2DT? Do you have Nero 6 installed? If so, upgrading to Desktop Plus would solve your playback problem. If you want to use NeroVision, you have to upgrade to Nero 7. Just went through this myself in the past few days.

I upgraded to TD Plus and it solved that same playback problem in WMP, however Orb still thinks the shows are in a 8:9 aspect ratio. In fact... in the video properties it said something like "actual aspect ratio: 4:3, displayed: 8:9" Weird...

In the past I was able to get the videos to display correctly by running them through DirectShowDump. A file I just transferred, however, plays at that 8:9 both before and after DSD. (This is just through Orb, WMP plays it correctly since upgrading TD).

This is, as stated above, only from my S2DT; the files from my single tuner work fine.


BTW, to the OP: to capture video with "print screen", in WMP go to Tools>Options>Performance>Advanced and uncheck "use overlays". Should make the video show in the capture...
