I was disappointed. Cro Cop was good, but was like a cat playing with a mouse, and the ref stopped it too soon. I think he was going for a spectacular knock out, and the guy just gave up on him.
And what about that 19 second fight? Was the knee to the shoulder or the head? I'm leaning towards head.
And weren't Silva's elbows to Lutter's head illegal? I thought you couldn't strike down with the point of your elbow.

We played it over several times in slo-mo (ain't TiVo great? :D) and it was definitely to the shoulder - it was more from the side than straight on as it looked to me live.
I wondered about the elbows, too, but it's illegal to use an elbow to the crown of the head. Again, live it kind of looked that way, but on the replays it was clearer that the elbows were coming across the top part of the forehead rather than landing square on the top of the head.
Both of those, as well as the near low-blow (which was close, but no cigar), gave me a greater appreciation for the refs and how they see and handle things in there.
Looked pretty good in HD for the first time. Overall, I felt it an average night. Not a lot of spectacular (and I sure could have done without Charles Barkley's mug on the screen), but a UFC PPV is still better than a lot of other stuff anyway.

It was a good night of fights.
The Crocop fight was stopped at the right time. There was no way Sanchez was going to beat him and he's lucky he got out of there like he did. He was not intelligently defending himself thus the stoppage.
In the quick fight, it was a knee to the shoulder, very nice.
Lastly, Silva's blows were completely legal because they were thrown at an arc and angle, so no issues there. He fought a great fight and tapped out an excellent ground fighter at his own game.
All in all, this UFC was ok. Next month's will be incredible with Couture, Franklin, Sylvia, and Hughes!

Big John gave an explanation of the elbow rule recently. The only kind of elbow is one that swings the point of the elbow straight down "from 12 to 6" in terms of clock direction. Silva's was more "10 to 4" and so was legal and allowed.
I really think Lutter would have won if he hadn't been so dried out. He had full mount and lost it for a very, very sloppy armbar attempt. Lutter's not even the top of the middleweight grappling food chain, so I wouldn't be surprised if Silva goes down soon.
Did anyone else have problems with the UFC PPV on DirecTV? I couldn't order the HD PPV using the remote control, so I ended up needing to call in. And then, for the first 10 minutes or so, it sounded like the SAP audio was bleeding through the center channel. Did anyone else have similar problems?

I ordered it in HD on-line and aside from some links that looked like I was ordering NFL Total Access and my order showing a date and time of 2/4/07 at 5:00 pm, everything went fine there. I experienced the same audio problem with the Spanish feed bleeding through for a while.

I had the same problem. And in fact posted here about my experiences dealing with a CSR over the phone for over 45 minutes trying to ensure everything was 'ok' since I had people coming over. After it was all said and done, everything worked out and the night was ok.
Do you by chance have a 5.1 receiver and hear 'Spanish' out of the center channel? we eventually disconnected the center channel because of it.

I'm not quite sure what version my system is (I've had it a few years) but the bleeding audio stopped about ten minutes in. While it was happening it wasn't overpowering to the point of not being able to hear Goldie and Rogan, so I didn't fuss with it.
It was there on my HR10-250 (which is run through my surround system) and on my HR20, which just runs to my TV.

The audio was out of synch with the Video where I watched it. I told my buddy to call DirecTV and complain.

Watching the previews for UFC 67, the Sanchez guy just looked like a victim. He wasn't given any chance in the world.
I assume Rampage just destroyed his oppenent right?

I didn't see the fight but I read the results. I can't believe that Lutter couldn't make weight. The guy is given the opportunity of his career and he can't make weight?

I ordered it on Comcast PPV and didn't see an option for HD. Was it only available in HD on DirecTV?

HD was not limited to DirecTV. Other systems carried it.

Yeah... I just checked out sherdog.com and it appears that Comcast only offered the HD option in selected areas. Apparently the San Francisco Bay Area is not big enough of a market... Doesn't make much sense...
