I have a lot of video files on my PC that did not come from TiVo. Every now and then TiVo will not transfer one of them. The history area has a message saying the file was not transferred because it was not found.
I can see the file in the Now Playing section in the PC folder. The attributes of the file appear to be the same as many others that the TiVo will transfer and play.
How do I isolate the problem?

You'll get that bogus error if your video is not in proper spec.

Give Tivo.Net a shot at converting them for you.

As near as I can tell the videos are in proper spec. What is needed is a program that can look at the video file and tell the user what part of it is out of spec.

I already have VideoReDo and DVD Shrink. I have looked at TiVo.Net and do not see anything about converting VoB files. It appears to be aimed at converted other types of files to what is essentially Vob file specifications.
All I want to do is to take the the many DVDs that I have purhased and uploaded them to a hard drive so I can access them without having to dig through the pile of DVDs. Now if I had a $100,000 or so to burn I could buy a service that does that. Being of somewhat more modest means I am will to spend the time to transfer the DVDs to a hard drive that my TiVo can access via my PC. I don't care how long it takes -- I just want it to be reliable: Do this and that and this and that and at the end be able to view the video you paid for on the TiVo you paid for. I have yet to find a process that is reliable.

I got lots of Tivos, but when I want to watch ripped DVDs I turn to my modded Xbox running XBMC (http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/) .
I am right now watching a ripped DVD on my XBOX. (Just point click on the .ifo file and up pops a working DVD menu). It will stream across the network, or I can copy it right onto the harddrive a heck of a lot faster than putting on a Tivo.
Just saying there are other, better options...
