So, I'm trying out a yamaha rx-v1700 receiver with my TivoS3.
I'm using code 1028, which works with vol/mute, but power on/off doesn't work.

has anyone found a code for this receiver that will work on the Tivo remote?

(i'm trying to avoid buying a harmony remote.. :) )

The TIVo S3 has no power on/off. Turn it on and leave it on. There is a "standby" mode that will keep the S3 on but will not record anything on the buffer.

SergioTrue, but not the answer to the original poster. They're asking about a code to enter into the TiVo remote to turn the AV receiver off at the same time it turns the TV off (ie, with one push of the TiVo remote Power button).

To OP:
Code 1028 works for me, for both power and volume, but I have an older Yamaha HTR-5550. Good luck in your search.

Most, if not all, of the Yamaha RX-V series receivers use "discreet" codes for power ON and OFF. This simply means that the IR code for ON is different from the one for OFF. It's not a "toggle".

I used to be able to turn on my Yamaha and TV together with my S1 Sony remote, but haven't found a way to do that yet with the S3. Hitting the same button again, would only turn off the TV.

I would love to know how to this with the S3. I thought it wasn't possible. (I have the TV power button programmed for my set, and the volume/mute buttons for the Yamaha. Works great, but it won't power up the Yamaha, or off for that matter.)

If anyone knows how to set the Power On for both rec'vr and TV together I'd love to know, same as OP.

Thanks.

my yamaha rx-v turns on/off with tivo s3 remote. i have a rx-v2500. my tv (panasonic plasma) and yamaha receiver turn on and off by hitting the (power?)button on the tivo s3 remote.

i had to do a manually go through the codes, so i do not know what the code is. i used my humax 80 hour (non-dvd) tivo manual to get the directions on how to do it. the manual is also online, and i made a previous post about what i did (i have only had the s3 about a month, so it shouldn't be that hard to find my previous post if you look at my post history -- it would be a post from January 2007).

My RX-V2095 uses discreet ON and OFF codes, so it may be possible for me to program the S3 remote to do one or the other, but probably not both ON and OFF.

(The Yamaha RX-V2095 remotes both have separate ON and OFF buttons.)

It interesting to note that Yamaha has gotten away from the separate OFF button. I never understood the logic/wisdom of that concept, except that it can make sense if you are programming it for a Crestron-type touch screen A/V system controllers that uses RS-232 signals, etc. ($$$), some of which require discreet codes.

Anyway, it would be nice to have only 1 remote on the coffee table. I'll look for your post now.

Thanks for your reponse.
ps the old RX-V2095 still RULES! I bet your 2500 sounds great.

i found 1204 works for me, and does the toggle pwr on/off on the tivo remote
(surprise considering the discreet on/off on the yamaha remote!)

the 1204 code works completely as you'd expect if you never turn your receiver on or off by hand (i.e. using the "Main" on/off button on the front of the receiver).

If you like to sometimes turn the receiver on by hand,....
there's still one problem...

the on/off toggle actually does an "all on" which turns on All 3 Zones - Main Zone2 and Zone3. And if you turned the receiver on manually, then used the remote to turn everything off - your tv turns off BUT the receiver turns ON zone2 and zone3!! - NOW your TV and receiver are out of sync... another click actually turns it off (but then your TV turns back on)! crazy...

Anyone know a different code? :) or work around this problem?
I'd like to find some hidden code to have the tivo remote "learn"
anyone have a list of hex codes for the remote? maybe i could hook them up somehow using my computers IR port?...

Another idea is if I could permanently disable the "Zones" in the rx-v1700 - I don't care about zones and they seem to be the cause of what's screwing up the Tivo remote controlling the PWR on the TV and rx-v1700 together...
I don't know if this is even an option, I haven't seen a way to do this.

all in all, this is at least a working solution as long as we don't touch the receiver by hand!

The 1204 code works for me too with my Yamaha RX-V661 receiver. All I did was hold down the Power and Tivo buttons and enter 1204. Both my Hitachi plasma TV and the Yamaha turn off and on. It seems I have to hold the power button down for a half second or second for both to consitently turn on and off, but it seems to work just fine...

I finally just got a Harmony 720 to control the various devices. I could not get the S3's remote to turn my Yamaha both on and off. I could eventually get it to do one or the other but not both. I could learn it and it would work for OFF but not on. Or I could learn it and it would turn ON but then not OFF.
