View Full Version : Series 3 constant restarting

My new Series 3 constantly restarts itself if for some reason it loses power. It restarts, searches for TV channels (never finds any, then restarts again and on and on.

The TiVo folks blame this on bad cable cards. Comcast, of course, says it is TiVos fault.

Each time this happens, the Comcast tech comes out (eventually) and installs new cards. This is getting very old, especially since Comcast's technicians keep cancelling their appointments at the last minute. (Comcast has got to be the worst alleged cable provider in the country. I won't even get into the lack of knowledge on the part of the technicians.)

Anyway, back to the constant restarting. Has anyone else had this problem?

Well if it only does it when you lose power then make sure it doesn't lose power.
You should have the TiVo connected to a UPS anyway.

This is a know problem and there is a post in here somewhere about it. The solution is to stop the endless reboot cycle is to pull the CableCARDS, do a guided setup with antenna only, put the cards back in and redo the setup with cable only. It really sucks and takes quite a bit of time. Oh, and it doesn't cure it forever, just until the next endless reboot cycle. I hate the solution because I need to go through all of the channels I don't want on my channel list each time.
