I am not very good with Linux and would appreciate any help that can be offered. I'm trying to upgrade my s2 DT from it's 80gb drive to a 320gb drive. I ran MFStools and used the command:
backup -qTao - /dev/hdc | restore -s 128 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdd
After a loooong wait, my new drive works perfect in the Tivo box, but under system info, it still shows recording capacity as variable, as much as 80hours.
Is there another command I need to run on the new drive? If so, could someone please give it to me exactly how I need to enter it. Thanks in advance.

One other thing. I did save my recordings and they are working on the new drive.

Are you using an LBA48 boot cd?
I've never seen -qTao, I've only seen it w/o the q.

Are you using an LBA48 boot cd?It appears he is using mfslive (www.mfslive.org).I've never seen -qTao, I've only seen it w/o the q.-q is quiet. When running a backup/restore pipeline, it is a good idea to make one side quiet so you don't get interfering progress messages from both sides of the pipeline.
To the OP: Some possibilities: Your tivo was upgrade before and you are out of partitions. This seems unlikely since the DT originally shipped with an 80GB drive. mfslive used to have a restore option to deal with this, but I don't see it documented in the latest version. You forgot to expand (-x in the restore). You can pull the drive and take it back to the PC and run mfsadd -x on the drive. Your DT has a capacity lock like the sd_h400 and a few other models. This would be the first time anyone reported this issue on a DT.

I typed the command exactly as typed above. Like I said, everything works properly, but nothing changed under system info. I did use mfslive.

Sorry about my limited knowledge of the commands, but what exactly do I want to type to expand?

What recording setting did you set at?
Best recording quality I think is about 80 hrs for 250GB drive.

I got it! I used mfstools this time. Typed mfsadd -x /dev/hdc System info shows "variable up to 351 hours"

Can MFSADD be ran from a telnet session with the tivo or do the drives have to be removed and put in a pc?
