View Full Version : Some transponders out, searching for signal message

I am getting searching for signal on both sats. I checked the signal strength and most of the transponders on 101 and 119 are between 30 - 60. Some are in the 80's or low 90's. The 110 sat I get blips to 19 or 20 on transponder 8, but nothing on 10 and 12. The signal seems to be jumping around on some transponders too.

It did snow tonight. Could snow be stuck on the dish? What else could cause this? I have a terk multi switch in the basement with a ChannelMAster gainmaster dish.

All 3 tivo units in my house say the same thing. I just checked the dish and there was some snow on it, but nothing that bad..I have seen it worse before. The LNB's were not covered. I am going to see if anything happened to the mucltswitch in the basement.

update #2: I swapped out my terk for my original multswitch (only 4 outputs on it)...pretty much the same thing. Some transponders seem to be better 12 on 110 is there now. But still very poor reception. Maybe it is snow. I guess I will wait until tomorrow.

Same for me in Cromwell last night. low 60's signal on 110, zero signal on 101 and 119, as I recall. It's fine this morning.

I'm guessing it was some kind of temporary regional outage? I don't know the technology, so hard for me to guess.

How was the weather? Snow on the dish?

We had snow, but I was/am too damn lazy to check it out. Never had a problem before, though, in the four years we've been here, and the snow we got last night was almost nothing in comparison to prior years (in fact, I've yet to even fire up the blower this year...) - GA

I'd say that you do have snow stuck to the dish.

Well, that's my original theory. However:

- It was not working when I went to sleep last night at 11:00 PM,
- it snowed overnight,
- I have not cleared off the dish,
- it was working when I got up at 6:00 AM this morning (before the sun came out), and
- it's never happened before, even when we had 3 feet of snowfall last year,

...I have a hard time believing that was the cause. <shrug>

Regardless, TV's working properly now, so it's not an issue... - GA

It's possible that the additional snow caused the first snow to slide down enough for the signal to return. I've seen this here.

Same here ...it was back this morning...there was not much snow on the dish at all last night.
