I never watched when it was on, but over the last couple of weeks my TiVo has picked up several episodes as a suggestion. Didn't have anything else to watch so I watched a couple. I really know why you guys now say "Burn in Hell Fox". So now I am forced to maybe sign up for BB or Netflix just so I can see this series from beginning to end.
Yes. Yes it is.
And to be fair, Fox stuck with this show far longer than anyone could have expected them to. I blame the hundreds of millions of people who preferred to tune into Dancing With The Stars, or whatever shows kept pounding it in the ratings.

Watching Season 2 again via NetFlix. Such a well-written show! You can tell there are a lot of fans here based on all the quotes and inside jokes from the show. :)
More than one person had ID'd me as an AD fan when I had "Final Countdown" as my ringtone. :D

If you had watched it when it was originally on, it would not have been canceled.

I think I'm having déjà vu.

One of the funniest shows ever made on american TV ... one of those shows where you have to pay attention.. part of its demise IMO

About 3 weeks before Christmas, I got all 3 seasons for $33 from Amazon. Great show, and it's 16X9 on DVD.
If you get HDNet, they air 2 episodes every Wednesday

That was an awesome deal - I grabbed a set for myself and another as a gift. Hopefully they'll bring that back some day. I have a S1 disc in my DVD player right now.

I own all 3 seasons on DVD.
In Canada, CBC has been airing it daily since January 1 and I've been watching it in HD for the first time (season 2 just started this week). It's one of very few shows that gets even funnier on multiple viewings because the jokes don't only make references to things from past episodes, but also things from future episodes.

Can't have an AD thread without throwing in my two cents. My favorite comedy of all time. So well written, so intricately crafted. Burn in Hell, America for not watching this show.

The biggest problem with Arrested Development was that they intricately interweaved plot elements through multiple episodes, which made it difficult to follow if you even missed a few episodes. That's why the show is vastly better enjoyed on the full-season DVD sets, which allow you to go through every episode per season to enjoy all the great things about the show.

I don't think the show would be difficult to follow if you missed a couple of episode, but it definitely wouldn't be as funny. Perhaps that's why "America" never tuned in "en masse," since every time they sampled it, it didn't seem funny, since they hadn't seen the set up to the joke several episodes prior.
Plus "America" is stupid. ;)

Quoting myself here...

Right after I posted that, I started watching the episode that aired yesterday, and it was the one with my favorite line from a show full of great lines...
Michael: Get rid of the Seaward.
Lucille: I'll leave when I'm good and ready.
This says it all.

Funniest comedy ever on TV.

Plus it doesn't have a laugh track, so that automatically means it's intelligent TV. If you didn't watch this and don't watch Studio 60, you're obviously not a very bright person.
:D
Seriously, I love AD. I had to work a Saturday a few weeks ago and ran the entire second season on my laptop while I was working. If you need a quick fix during your work day or don't have the DVDs, be sure to check out arresteddevelopment.msn.com.

The atrocity is that this show would repeatedly get pounded in the ratings by stinkin' reality TV.

Yes, but did you Get Arrested (http://www.getarrested.com) (link no-longer working)? Did you sign petitions (online and otherwise)? Did you e-mail everyone in your AddressBook saying "Watch this show!"?
So, rather than blaming the clueless, maybe we should all look at ourselves and ask, did we do enough?

I'm trying to remember what reality shows it might have been on against, but nothing comes to mind.

America, you've made a huge mistake.
I own the entire show on DVD, but still I end up watching it when my TiVo picks up the reruns on G4. I can't help myself, it gets funnier every time.

I own the first two seasons on DVD but now that I get G4 I've been recording reruns... and catching them on Canadian TV too.
The other day I actually caught a new joke... the episode called My Mother the Car and at one point Job is watching the episode of the classic show. Then we get ot the point where Lucille is driving the car... I was laughing so hard thinking "my God, three years later and I'm still finding NEW jokes!"
This show is classic!!!
I caught one the other day when Michael did a "her?" and couldn't stop laughing... just such great delivery!
Someone at work said something about "the hubbub hub" (a name a copywriter came up with for something... that we won't use ;) ) and I had to explain "the bob loblaw law blog" :)
