I pulled my drive and examined the logs. The boot sequence is failing during StageD when starting the TvLauncher daemon in rc.Sequence600.StartLauncher.sh. Forum research indicates this usually means a corrupted /tvbin/tivoapp.

I don't have a tivoapp.orig after opting to allow it to be deleted. I've used find to search hda4 & hda9 for other copies that might be under other names, but nada. I'd prefer NOT to re-image the drive as there are recordings and 60 SPs & WLs my wife would rather I not lose. I've read on DDB that there is a virgin copy of tivoapp still in the original 6.2 slice on the original drive from my HDVR2.

My problem is that I haven't yet been able to find the right search terms to 1) find out how to find this object on the old drive, 2)3)get a copy of it into tvbin on the new drive, and 4) find what else I might need to do to it to use it with the rest of the existing Tivo image.

Since I Zippered this drive, I would rather not ask for help on DDB. I realize that, once copied, the virgin tivoapp will need to have killhdinitrd performed on it. I have the PTVnet boot disk with that utility and found posting on how to use it.

Any hints, help or links that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated ?

Never mind ! I'm embarrassed to say that it didn't dawn on me until this morning to just get a copy of tivoapp off my original 40G drive.

If you have a spare drive, you can image it and install it in your tivo and extract its virgin tivoapp. Just put the tivoapp file on a cd and put your drive in your pc and boot from your zipper disc or ptv boot disc. Then you can put in the cd with the virgin tivoapp and copy it to your tivo. If you don't have a spare drive, drop me a PM and I can probably come up with a virgin tivoapp for ya.

-nevermind, I just noticed your edit to your post.
