I just bought a dvdr/dvr unit and would like to use it along with my Tivo. It's much easier to transfer stuff to dvd this way AND I can put some vhs stuff on DVD. Is there a way I can wire this so I could record three times if I ever wanted to?

What model TiVo do you have? If the DVDR/DVR unit has an analog tuner then you could use it to record either OTA or cable programming.

I have am s2 d2. This seems better than the tivo/dvdr combo as I can edit out commercials and it's a pain on the pc.

do you use a settop box from the cable company?
basically you can split and hook the cable up to the DVDr unit and its tuner will get the analog channels (the 1 - 99) adn then you set up recordings on it however the manual says to.

I do not use a set-top box. If I do split it, could I record my TiVo's stuff to DVD? I wouldn't think so, so I guess I will record two things. Thank you all for your help.

If your DVD recorder has a tuner, then you could spit the cable three ways. Two for the DT TiVo and one for the DVD recorder. This way you can record three things. You can also connect the TiVo to the DVD recorder to allow for recording from TiVo to DVD.

yes. I am talking of splitting the coax cable in two - one for the TiVo DT and one for the DVDr. you can split off a third for the TV if you like as well.
this will allow the DT to record two shows at once and the DVDr to record a show as well.
anything you want to record from the TiVo now playing to the DVDr you will need to play real time as that is how that will work. With some models of DVDr you can record from a composite or svideo input. Check the DVDr manual for that and if so you can hook up the output from the TiVo to that input on the DVDr .
post your DVDr model number and maybe someione will be familiar with it
