I just had a wearing experience with Page Computers, http://store.pagecomputers.com/,
which has convinced me to post the details as a warning to others.
I ordered a TiVo Series3 from Page Computers because the advertised price was right and they had represented on their Web site that they had S3s in stock. In the event, they had no S3s in stock.
Despite representing that their policy is not to charge a customer’s credit card if an item the customer has ordered is not in stock, Page Computers charged my credit card on January 2, 2007, the first business day after I ordered an S3 from them. Then, they notified me by email on January 4 that they had no S3s in stock and did not take back orders. In their email they represented that “In the event that we have charged your card, we will reverse it immediately.” This also turned out to be untrue
Page Computers charged my card on January 2, 2007 and despite an email from me on January 5 and a telephone call on January 23 requesting that they issue a credit memorandum for the charge, they did not do so. They finally issued a credit memo after I contacted them for the third time on January 30. What a mess!
I know that some of you had success when you ordered your S3 from Page Computers because they happened to have them in stock at the time and, as noted above, the price was right. Nevertheless, Page Computers’ performance in the handling of my transaction was so awful that I though I should tell the rest of you about it so you could have the information in case you were considering buying a TiVo from Page Computers, or anything else for that matter.
