Crackly sound output

TiVo seems to have developed a strange crackle on the sound output to the telly. Is this a known problem? Is there some form of soundcard inside? Can it be diagnosed/fixed easily?

This is a link to a thread I started a while ago for a similar sounding problem. (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=303849) No definite conclusion was reached in the thread, but my problem disappeared all by itself after a week or so (really should update that thread with the outcome :o ).

What sources is the TiVo controlling (Analogue, Freeview, Sky, Cable, etc)? As my problem was only on the analogue channels and not the freeview ones.
