Can anyone provide results of their experience upgrading the kernel to 3.1.0+ for series 1 directivo units? I have been scouring the web for any feedback on the results (good or bad) regarding this and have found nothing.
I have a Sony SAT-T60 that has a an 'instant-caked' 160GB HD that worked fine until DirecTv updated the Tivo kernel to 3.5 and then the Tivo froze-up when I pressed the Tivo button on the remote.
I have lots of programming contained on this HD and dearly want to retain it, so I have not upgraded my kernel yet until I see the results of someone else. Does upgrading the kernel wipe-out the previous saved programming?
