View Full Version : Scheduled Reboots?

I know about the HR10's rebooting problem, but mine's doing it on a schedule. EVERY night this week, it has rebooted at exactly 7:21 pm. I can tell because I'm recording The Simpson on 88 (Fox East) and on our local CW (Different Episodes). I get 21 mins of each program, and my 30 second skip and clock in the bottom right and corner are gone.
I even tried to "trick" it tonight by rebooting it myself at 7:10. Everything got all up and running, going fine, come 7:21, automatic reboot.
Anybody's else's HR10 rebooting on a schedule?
This is getting RIDICULOUS! If they can't get this fixed, I'm extremely tempted to call Directv and tell them to send me an HR20 to replace it. I do already have one, but I've got 2 HD DVRs going.

What else have you tried to stop this very weird situation? Many times a restart fixes weird problems, but in this case it obviously won't.
Maybe a Clear program information & To Do List option will help. Or the more drastic Clear & Delete Everything.

Have you tried forcing a phone call to flush the logs?

Last time it made a successful call was Sunday afteroon when I forced it. I'll make one now, and see if it does it's usual 7:21 reboot.

Is your machine hacked or stock? On my hacked HR10-250 I found there was a conflict between the Caller ID hacks (elseed in my case) and the nightly call that was causing a reboot with 6.3 every time it tried to dial out. I have disabled CID stuff for now and it's been rock solid.

Well, it's after 7:21. Did it reboot?

It did. I watched it this time. I have the clock enabled in the lower right hand corner, and the SECOND it hit 7:21:00, instant reboot.

Crazy. It must be possessed.
You might try a few things (one at a time) to see if you can isolate a root cause ....
* disconnect the phone line
* disconnect over-the-air antenna cable
* disconnect satellite cables
* use a UPS to isolate the AC power

OTA antenna isn't connected. It is on a UPS. I'll disconnect the satellite in tonight around 7:15, see if it still does it, and report back.

Disconnected both sat inputs at 7:15, 7:21-reboot.

So you know it's not signal related. It's probably time to think about a "clear and delete everything" to reformat the hard drive. Not sure what else to suggest.
Wait ... one other idea ....
Do you have a neighbor or friend with DirecTV? Try taking it to their house, connecting it to their TV, and see what happens at 7:21pm.

I'm having similar problems with both of my 10-250's. It doesn't happen every night, but they are both rebooting periodically and both always reboot around 9:40 when they reboot. The one in my living room, just rebooted at 9:41.
They were both zippered. I am going to uninstall tweak.sh and see if it continues happening.
EDIT: I checked the Tivo in my office and it has an uptime of 3h 11m 26s listed, meaning it must have rebooted around 6:40 or so tonight.
I had reinstalled tweak.sh on mine several weeks ago, mostly to get the caller ID functions back, but I think I also told it to reboot weekly (supposed to happen in the middle of the night, not during recordings). So, I am hoping in my case the CRON jobs were messed up, but if it isn't related to that, I haven't a clue.

Both of our HDVR2s are rebooting several times a day now. Last night our primary one rebooted four times during prime time. The only modification to that box was a second drive added last year. The other box is completely unmodified.

My HR10-250 has recently started rebooting. Is there any offical word on why this happening? Sometimes it hangs and doesn't complete the reboot. If I unplug/plug it back in, it finishes booting.
