I have an installer coming in 2 weeks to upgrade my HD DVR. I know there is a newer slimline 5 LNB dish. I already have the AT-9 installed on the roof. Is there any reason I should have the installer switch to the newest 'slim'mer version?

I can't think of any reason to swap an AT9 for the AU9. Except the AU9 is lighter.

Thank you! That was what I was thinking but I know you guys are the experts. :) wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. That's good, though, as I can get them out as fast as possible without them actually having to do anything. Well, that's usually what they wind up doing anyway.

Well, the slimline dish doesn't have those 2 exposed coax jumpers that the AT9 does, since obviously the LNB's are all integrated as one piece. I've read that they can cause trouble at times, but other than that, haven't heard otherwise.
If you could talk the tech into GIVING you the new one for free, go for it. (but I HIGHLY doubt he'll do that! :D )
Really, I'd just leave well enough alone... ;)

One question I have about both the at9 and the slimline, when the two new sats are up will they just give everyone the two new lnb's needed?

They already have the needed LNBs.

I think my order states I get a new dish, so if I do, will it definitely be the new slimline, is that the one that's installed now commonplace?
But leaving well enough alone sometimes does sound like the best idea. Like they say, if it ain't broke.....don't have a direct tv tech go up on your roof and break it. :p

I have no hard data on this, but you might want to search the forum for AT-9, as there was a thread a couple months ago that seemed to imply that the slimline had better gain/rain-fade capability than the AT-9. It also obviously has better wind-loading. But I would expect that they would be engineered for the same performance, although either one could have been a design that compromised performance for physical size (and we all know size matters :) ).
