First my setup... I have a Sony 40"XBR tube TV hooked up to HR10-250 via HDMI to DVI. The middle section of the television is "specially designed/enhanced" for HD content, so anything HD is mid-screen, whether it be widescreen or 4:3. I only have OTA HD, so my standard DirecTv has been full screen 4:3.

Today, everything is showing as though it is HD. Standard DirecTv channels are being shown in the mid-screen area and the Guide displays in widescreen. The HR10-250 menu comes up in widescreen only. I checked the settings and everything is OK and set to 4:3.
I noticed that I now have 6.3b, so I'm trying a clear and delete everything reboot now, but I wondered if anyone experienced this.

I have another HR10-250 on a 42" LCD, but it hasn't received the 6.3b update, BUT I think it has been trying to install it, because it has locked up 3 times over the last three weeks-once a week for three weeks. It is not exhibiting the HD like activity of the other box.

i don't have a clue what you're trying to say. specifically designed/enhanced for HD? mid-screen?

Sounds like the aspect ratio of the TV has been changed and has nothing to do with the Tivo.

i have the 36" version of that tv, and know what you're talking about. whenever the tv detects a digital signal, it switches to widescreen, so you don't waste scan lines on the black bars in a letterboxed picture. i don't use dvi from hy h10 though, and have no problems with my component. have you tried switching format outputs from the h10? press the up button, or on the front bezel of the tivo. i always put it on 480p when watching standard def, and then 1080i when viewing hd.

Thanks, you explained the widescreen presentation better than I did. I was trying to express that everything was being forced to the letterbox format, even 4:3 content so the picture was black bars on the top bottom and side.

I'm still waiting for it to finish the reboot to see what happens. I'll post the results.
