View Full Version : Less "space" since 6.3x?

I don't know if it's only me, so I'm asking if anyone else has experienced this since getting 6.3x (both a and b):

If I try to save a recording until I delete, I get "some programs won't record and some may be deleted early" (or something very close to that) much earlier than used to be the case with 3.1.5f

That is, with 3.1.5, I could have as much as 23 hours saved before I started getting that message. Now I get it when I only have 15 or 16 hours saved. My recording habits haven't changed.

Anybody else seeing this happen?

Edit: I should have mentioned that all recordings, both with 3.1.5 and with 6.3, are HD recordings, I don't record any SD programming.

This message can occur if you have some SPs set to Keep Until I Delete that have not yet recorded. So then if you try to save a recording as KUID it gives you that message since it is reserving space for future recordings.

None of my Season Passes are KUID. As I said, my recording habits haven't changed, not one iota. This started when I got 6.3a (and continues with 6.3b).

Then I have no further ideas. My HR10 hasn't shown this problem, but then I'm not close to being full.

The 6.3 software does not repartition the drive so the actual hard drive space has not changed. Do you record OTA or DirecTV HD? OTA typically uses a higher bandwidth signal than DirecTV HD? Maybe the programs you are watching now are less compressed.

With rare exceptions, my recordings are (and were) all OTA HD recordings.

I assumed that hard drive space didn't change with 6.3, which is why I put "space" in quotation marks. My thinking was that with 6.3, TiVo was "mis-reading" how much space is available on my drive and was wondering if others were having similar experiences.
