I have seen where you can buy a Tivo off e-bay with a lifetime subscription connected to it.
I was wondering if anyone on here has done that? I'm interested but kind of worried about getting burned. Not only about getting a working unit but also about the lifetime subscription being valid.
Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Just be careful, ask the right questions, etc.
When I switched to D*, and dual tuner D*Tivo's I sold my S2 with lifetime (and dual 120GB HDs) on ebay.

Check the seller's feedback and see if there are any instances of concern. If so email the seller and ask about the situation. There are jerks both buying and selling on eBay but if you are careful you should be ok. I recommend using a credit card directly if possible and not Paypal in the case of lifetime, since they sometimes do not consider missing lifetime as "significantlly different than advertised" which is very unfortunate. The credit card companies are much more sympathetic.

The prices being asked for on ebay are ridiculous.
Try Craigslist for your local area if possible. A friend of mine got a S1 with lifetime for under $100.

The Lifetime S2 boxes are going for $400 to $500 here on Craigslist. the same as ebay.
