View Full Version : HR10-250 and Westinghouse LVM-42w2
I have a Westinghouse 42" 1080p LCD monitor, model LVM-42w2, connected to my HR10-250 via HDMI. In general, it works great. My problem is that if I leave the monitor off for more than a few hours and then turn it back on, all I get is a snowy screen. If I reboot the HR10-250 all is well again. If the monitor is only off for a few hours I don't usually have any problems. Has any one else with a Westinghouse LCD monitor had this problem and know any way to correct it? I'm just getting tired of having to reboot the HR10-250 each morning.
Thanks, Scott

No problems here with a 37" LVM-37-w1 which has dvi, but no hdmi. I use an hdmi to dvi cable and have no problems after turning the monitor off and on -- you might try your dvi connection instead of the hdmi connection. I only have problems during a reboot of the hr10-250 and sometimes I need to turn off the westy and turn it back on to reset the hdcp handshake.

I would contact Westinghouse and see if they have a firmware update for your set. Some of the new HDTVs have sync problems with the HDMI connection. Have you tried the component connection? I have a Sony 46" 1080p TV with two HR10-250s connected to it. One is connected using the HDMI connection, the other with component. Frankly, I can see no difference in the picture quality between the two connections.

I've got the exact same setup, and I'm experiencing this about once a week. I think it might be related to an update that is trying to install, and or my harddrive is dying. Every night around 2 or 3AM the box calls in for updates of one kind or another, so that could explain why the next morning we have a problem.
It's not the TV. If it is the TV, you would be able to switch inputs to component or s-video. That's one way to be sure it's the box and not the TV. In my case, the TV doesn't recognize those either, so I've judged it's a problem with the HR10-250. I'm going to try and install a replacement drive and see if that makes a difference.
I just posted earlier that I've got one box that just updated to 6.3b, but the box I'm having this problem with hasn't been updated yet. I think the box is getting stuck with the 6.3b update, but I"m not positive.
