Hello,
I recently took the leap of faith after reading all of the horror stories here about the cablecard problems with the series 3 and purchased on for my system.
I am a Cablevision customer and the install went very smooth (I am happy to say). The tech was very knowledgeable and patient and got the unit working perfectly except for one item which I did not realize until after he left.
On each cablecard I receive all of the channels that I am supposed to receive, however, I do not receive program guide information for most channels between 22-50. Instead of breaking the channels down by programs and what is playing, these channels (on both cablecards) just say REGULAR SCHEDULE.
While I am happy that my tivo is receiving all channels, I cannot use it the way it is meant if I cannot receive program guide information... Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, what is the fix?
My tivo has a hardwire ethernet connection to the internet and updates daily, just not the channels between 22-50. I reran guided setup several times but in light of all the problems I am reading about here I have not been daring enough to either reset , reboot or unplug the unit. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance
Joe

Go to Zap2It.com, enter your zip code, and choose your cable lineup. Check to see if channels 22-50 are listed there. If not, then it is a problem with the guide data supplied to TiVo and passed on to you. There are links at both TiVo.com and zap2it.com where you can notify them of a lineup error (the links can be hard to find). If that is the case, I'm sure someone here can also supply the links. In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to reboot your S3 and force a call.

I think I remember reading on here that someone found a workaround for a problem like this - something about re-running guided setup and telling it that you receive channel 1 even if you don't.

While I am happy that my tivo is receiving all channels, I cannot use it the way it is meant if I cannot receive program guide information... Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, what is the fix? A number of people with the problem have discovered the solution is trying different cable lineups during guided setup. Do not blindly accept the one the TiVo offers, particularly if it is based on asking you whether you get anything on channel 1! There are other advanced or expert modes (I'm not sure of the details, but they get posted in some thread every few days) you can enter.

I don't remember ever being asked if there was anything on channel 1 during guided setup (and I've run it a few times). Is that only for certain brand CableCARDs?

I think you have to go into an "advanced" mode during GS to see that option. I never had the problem so I've never seen this screen or investigated further.

I had the same problem with Cablevision. Are you in Morris County New Jersey by any chance? The fix is to re-run guided setup and when it asks which channels you receive keep selecting the "not sure" or "don't know" choice. You will ultimately be taken to a screen where you can select your cable line up directly. From this screen you need to choose "extended basic".
I'm doing this from memory so the directions may be somewhat off but this is the gist of it. You may need to clear out the program info first.

The fix worked. I repeated guided setup, chose extended basic and.. voila! I am now receiving the program info on all channels. Thanks
btw, I am in Essex County NJ.
On to the next problem... some of those same problems that I was not getting program information on are now occasionally blacked out and will not return unless I reboot Tivo... Any ideas for a fix for this problem???

I am in Morris County, NJ too and can confirm that the instructions by njdtivo above worked for me too to match my cable lineup. I do not recall if it is "not sure" or "don't know", but I do know that it was the last choice at the bottom of the list, Tivo repeated the channel question 4-5x, and the first choice they offered was Cablevision basic (you will know it is wrong since channels 23-100 are not shown), I said no, then it offered Cablevision extended (with channels 23-100 populated) and that is the one I used.
