I've got an R10 that I just recently hooked up to a receiver via optical out. The problem I'm having is that the audio seems to cut in and out at random times. The stuttering happens frequently enough to where listening to a movie on a premium channel is unbearable. Has anybody else had a problem with the optical out and stuttering audio? Are there any settings that I need to change to get the audio working properly? This only happens to the audio coming from the surround sound. The tv audio plays perfectly without any stuttering. The receiver is an Onkyo RT-340 and the tv is a panny 42" TH42PX60U. Help please.
Thanks.

Well... how about switching to RCA connection wires?
Not specifically about audio... but there have been several discussions here about certain types of connection not working together, such as this one concerning a Tuner 2 Problem MAY be due to S-Video Cable

Thanks for the reply, John. I'll give unplugging the S-Video cable a shot, but seems strange that that could cause an audio stuttering issue with only the optical out. The volume from the tv connected via R-L RCA cables work fine without any problems, even if I have both the tv volume and surround volume on at the same time. I've tried disconnecting the RCA audio to the tv, but the audio continues to cut in and out of the surround system.

Electronic components sometimes do odd things
I have a 3-4 year old RCA Dvr80 which, about 2 weeks ago, decided to stop sending any signal at all out the composite coax port... but works just fine when I connect the 3-wire RCA jacks to the TV

Well, oddly enough, switching the feed to my receiver from Opt2 to Opt1 did the trick. Well, at least for the time being I have no stuttering. Weird.... Anyways, problem seems to be okay now, so thanks again for the posts.
