I don't fully understand your question. Can you restate it?

Are you getting shutdowns because the temperature is too high? Check that the fan on the HR10 is working and that the air intakes on bottom and exhaust on back are not blocked.

I'm assuming the OP is saying that he has an overtemp problem which doesn't reset when unplugged and left to cool down.

So, back to basics.
What temperature is being reported on the System Information screen?

FYI, for future questions please ask in the HDTiVo forum Since that is the unit you have. Assuming you meant HR10-250. :)
