DSR708 Freezing

Wondering if someone might have some thoughts. I have a DSR708 that anytime I go in to check the messages, it will freeze up tight and the only option is to pull the power. I know it has been a while since the last call, Is there a way to clear that out or if it makes a call should it reset itself.

Don't remember the message thread title, but this has been discussed before

Once the message space fills up (can happen fairly quickly if not connected to a telephone and there are daily nag messages) attempting to read messages locks the machine

I **think** doing some level of restart has been advised to clear the messages... but can't remember how drastic you have to go to clear the message space

Easy fix. Don't go to the messages menu again. A Clear and Delete Everything will fix it, but that could take hours, and you'll lose all your saved programs and season passes.

I just picked up a used one HDVR2 with the same problem, just kept on locking up. Turns out thing did not phone home in over 2 years. Letting it make a call MAY clear it. Otherwise, the only other way to keep it from locking is clear and delete like the man said...BTW, that is what I did to clear out the used unit, no issues since it was reset...
