Guided Set up call

I recently bought 2 DirecTivos

One was used, and guided setup has been performed. The other is new (plugged it in and it has not gone through guided set up). I do not have a landline (or VOIP).

If I take the new one to a neighbors, does it need to have a satellite connection as well as a satellite connection, or would just the landline and a tv work?

You do not need a satellite connection to complete the initial Guided Setup using a neighbor's phone line.

When it complains that it can't find a satellite signal, just select that you'll fix it later. I think that's what it will do. It's been a while. :)
