I have a HDVR2 unit in which the original drive died. My neighbor had a unit die and got a replacement from directv. Unfortunately for her, it is the directv dvr.
I played with it for a while, and while its better than Time Warners dvr, It isn't even close to the directivo. Any opinions on the best way to get the HDVR2 back up. I wouldn't mind an upgrade to a unit with the HMO features. All opinions are
welcome
Thanks John

Replacing a tivo hard drive is a walk-in-the-park if you are comfortable opening up your pc. Check out www.dvrupgrade.com . They sell pre-configured hard drives that are ready to install (with or without networking abilities) as well as Instant Cake. Instant cake is a bootable cd that includes a clean tivo image. All you do is connect your cdrom as primary slave and new tivo drive as secondary master, boot the cd and hit enter at the prompts. If you'd like to set up networking/HMO access yourself, check the underground forum here for the thread "Hacking you series 2 tivo just got a whole lot easier.." for alot of information on how to run "the zipper."

Does it matter what the drives are set as. Because the way my system is set up all I have to do is set a drive as primary slave and plug it in as I have two cd drives on the secondary IDE cable
